Old Delft 50/1.3
Cine projector lens made in Holland by Oude Delft, marked ‘Old Delft’. Image circle c.30mm and FFD too short for infinity focus.
16:9 –
If you’re looking for a dreamy, fast, vintage lens with low contrast and heavily blitzed-smooth bokeh, and if you’re not looking to image larger than APS-C for movies or stills, and if your subject is no more than 30cm away, and if you don’t need critical sharpness, and if you can live with a very soft outer image circle with plentiful aberration, and if you can adapt its 40mm thread barrel . . . the Old Delft 50mm f1.3 could be just what you need.
It’s a mechanically reassuring (all metal) four-element design with single coating that packs a lot of glass into its 55mm length and has a mesmerising drawing style within a very narrow niche.
