Opaque Projection
Episcope lenses were designed for the reflected projection of opaque objects placed inside an illuminated chamber. They are typically in the 200-600mm range. This category also includes ‘epidiascope’ lenses – a portmanteau word describing a projector capable of throwing images of both flat, transparent media (a diascope) and an episcope. Here you will also find lenses used in comparators, and gauge and profile projectors – which have features in common with episcopes.
